Novartis leads on generics growth

Third-quarter sales at Swiss pharma company Novartis were just ahead of the City's consensus estimates at $12.5bn (£7.9bn), or 13 per cent higher than 2009. Earnings per share were 99 cents while the company generated free cash flow of more than $2.89bn. Novartis has consistently beaten forecasts for each quarter this year on the back of a strong performance from its consumer healthcare business.
