We've made some changes to our share tips section following user feedback and testing. The main change is that you can now view updates and tips on a single page, get a better picture of tip performance and filter out Aim or overseas shares if you're not interested in those markets. You'll notice that we've also renamed this section Share tips and updates to reflect these changes.

The key to using the new suite of pages is the 'control panel' at the top of the page, which is shown below. When you first browse to the page, this will default to showing share tips of all genres across all markets - so what you will almost certainly see is the latest four share tips, followed by the preceding week's, and so on.

But you can control what you see in that field. For instance, if you are looking for shares to go in a self-select Isa, you will probably want to avoid anything listed on the Alternative Investment Market. You can do this by clicking the 'Main market' radio button. The page will change, to show only share tips relating to companies on the Official List. Similarly, if you're thinking of getting into overseas investing, you could click 'Overseas shares' and the page would show only share tips relating to companies listed outside London.

Use the tabs across the top to show only share tips of a certain genre - for instance, if you were looking for shorting ideas, you might click on 'Sells', or if you were looking for classic buy-and-holds, you might click 'Value'.

Many of you told us that you wanted tips and updates on a single page. You can achieve this by clicking the SHOW UPDATES box. The page will then list both tips and updates, most recent first - the tips will be labelled Tips (purple icon) and the updates Tip Updates (grey icon), making it easy to tell which is which. You can filter what the page displays in exactly the same way - by market, or by genre.

Tip performance is now shown in a table to the right of the page. Click on the company name and you'll be taken through to that company's IC home page, where you'll find data and articles. We update these tables once a week.

Finally, if you want to check whether we have tipped a share that you own, it's now a lot easier to do so. Just click on 'Search', the right-most tab on the control panel. Type the company name into the search box - as soon as the site finds a match, or matches, it will display them. Click on the company name and you'll see either the most recent tips and updates about the company, or a message stating that it has not been tipped recently, but offering more articles and data about it.
