Surgical instruments specialist Surgical Innovations (SUN) looks as though it will report a decent first-half performance after a detailed update showed a 28 per cent increase in revenues. Investors drew heart from evidence that Surgical achieved this growth by organically rolling out its range of reusable keyhole surgery devices into more hospitals in the UK and the US.
Pre-tax profits more than tripled to £567,000, while adjusted cash profits were 16 per cent ahead at £1.14m. The rollout programme means that 25 UK hospitals now use the company's range of specialist equipment, which should help to boost its appeal in the key US export market. The company also finalised the budget for its new manufacturing facility in Leeds, which is funded by a regional growth fund grant. The facility should be ready by summer 2015. The company will announce its half-year results on Tuesday 10 September.
