Pro-forma revenues for cinema chain Cineworld (CINE) rose 10.7 per cent in the 19 weeks to mid-May, after almost all territories delivered year-on-year admissions growth. The only exception was Slovakia, which saw a small decline.

A strong film release slate for the rest of the year - which includes the new Star Wars, James Bond and Hunger Games films - should help the group meet its full-year targets. It's also hoping to open a further eight cinemas in the UK (64 screens, of which eight screens relate to two new Picturehouse venues).
