Chart of the day: Latin America tumbles further

As the graph below shows, the value of major Latin American currencies relative to the US dollar have deterioated over the past six months. The Real has performed the worst compared with the dollar over that time period, losing 17 per cent of its value relative to the US dollar. However, over the past two months the Colombian Peso has dropped most sharply, now valued at 9 per cent less against the dollar than it was in mid-May. As our Brazil sector focus notes, a diverse set of companies - including Aggreko (AGK), Aveva (AVV) and HSBC (HSBA) - with operations in Brazil have suffered as a result of the slowdown.
