Simon and Bobby Arora bought discount chain B&M European Value Retail (BME) in 2004, and have largely been credited with building Malcolm Billington's then lossmaking business into the £3.5bn public company it is today. With the share price riding close to an all-time high following the 2014 IPO, it seems the Aroras have decided to give themselves a pat on the back.

Via their SSA Investments vehicle, a hefty share sale indirectly netted the brothers around £218m, albeit cutting their stake in the business to around 15 per cent in the process. Although both insist they remain highly committed to the business, it's not the first time this has happened; it's estimated that the brothers have earned around £1bn in share sale proceeds since the float and now have a net worth of around £2bn.
