KEY STORIES:

At yesterday’s AGM, gold miner Petropavlovsk’s (POG) founder Peter Hambro and three other directors were ejected from the board, after agitation from shareholders led by Renova Asset Holding. Mr Hambro, along with Peter Jenkins, Alexander Green and Andrew Vickerman were not re-elected, with at least two-thirds of shareholders voting against each.

After a preannounced reshuffle of its debt, Rio Tinto (RIO) has reduced its gross debt by a further $2.5bn. It has reduced the nominal value of its outstanding paper from $21bn to around $9.5bn since the beginning of 2016. Early redemption costs will reduce first-half cash flows by $260m.
