Informa-UBM talks off

Shares in media group Informa shed 10 per cent after it ended merger talks with rival UBM, and news of an approach from elsewhere failed to soothe investor concerns. Private equity is said to be keen on Informa with Providence, Carlyle, Candover, Cinven and Apax mooted as interested parties.

Analysts reckon a bid could be pitched around 500p should it come but Informa's shares slipped to 421p.
