The latest Africa-focused Aim company to be founded by ex-England spin bowler Phil Edmonds is scheduled to float on Aim on Monday. Mozambique-based Bioenergy Africa has raised £8.6m to invest in a sugar cane ethanol project. The company initially targeted £13m of funds but has scaled back in tough equity market conditions.

Despite a mixed track record, Phil Edmonds has a loyal band of followers and few others could have got a float away at all in the current market. Nonetheless, it is very early days for this project.
