You can wait for weeks for that perfect currency trading opportunity to appear on your screen. But what if you're not at your computer when it finally happens? A new free service called Forex Alerts from timetotrade solves this problem by messaging you as soon as an exchange rate meets certain conditions.

So, you might want to buy dollars and sell pounds if sterling hits a level of $1.40, crossing its 21-day moving average and registering a positive signal on its relative strength index in the process. With just a couple of clicks on the relevant chart, you can instruct this service to send an alert to your e-mail or personal digital organiser as soon as your criteria are fulfilled. Or, for a small fee, you can receive the message by text message.

As well as being free, the basic Forex Alerts package is both simple and clever. Because it's all done by clicking the chart, there are no codes to learn. And you can enter many different conditions and adjust their terms to your exact specifications. You can try it for yourself at www.timetotrade.eu.
