The easiest way to buy exposure to an overseas stock market is through index tracker funds or exchange-traded funds (ETFs). The Barclays iShares range of ETFs can be bought and sold like shares through your normal stock broker. The range is expanding all the time – ETFs tracking North America, Europe ex-UK and Asia/Pacific dividend plays have just been launched – and the total expense ratios (TERs) are highly competitive, compared with a managed fund.
