A week or so after Ralph Mupita tendered his resignation as head of Old Mutual Emerging Markets, Bruce Hemphill, chief executive of the parent group, pocketed £257,110 from the sale of 133,963 shares in the Anglo-South African financial services provider. The transaction was made in line with the group's 300-day moving average.

Following the conclusion of a strategic review in March, Old Mutual (OML) decided to separate its four main businesses: Old Mutual Emerging Markets, Old Mutual Wealth, Nedbank Group and OM Asset Management in the US. The group plans to demerge and list Old Mutual Wealth on the Johannesburg and London exchanges. This is despite speculation that increased costs in upgrading the wealth arm's investment platform could instead lead to its sale. Management has also been busy cutting costs ahead of the 'managed separation' of its businesses.
