The reputation of security outsourcer G4S (GFS) has taken another blow following allegations of abuse of teenage inmates at the Medway Secure Training Centre in Kent run by the group. Kent police have arrested five men following the claims made in a BBC Panaroma investigation. The undercover footage showed staff allegedly mistreating young people and boasting about using inappropriate techniques to restrain them.
Managing director for children's services at G4S Steve Cook said in a statement: "We fully support the action of Kent Police this morning and we continue to provide police officers and the local authority with full access to Medway STC and the centre's records including CCTV footage." The reputational damage incurred caused the shares to fall a further 3 per cent.
