The acquisition forms part of the utility group's plans to invest £500m in this area by 2020. Other connected home brands include Hive, which offers products such as smart thermostats and motion sensors. Management has been focusing on customer-facing businesses such as British Gas and diverting resources away from more capital-intensive exploration and production.
