Aggreko's winter wonderland

The temporary power specialist has scored a timely contract for next year's Winter Olympics.
January 4, 2017

Aggreko (AGK) has secured a $40m (£33m) contract to help keep the lights on at next year's Winter Olympics in the South Korean city of PyeongChang. The temporary power specialist will provide electricity across 18 competition venues and the international broadcast centre.

The news will be welcomed by shareholders in Glasgow-based Aggreko, which is also providing services for the 2018 Commonwealth Games on Australia's Gold Coast, particularly as it pulled out of a tender to provide generators for last summer's Olympics in Rio de Janeiro - presumably the group has greater faith in PyeongChang's organising committee.
