John McClure, co-manager of IC Top 100 Funds Acorn Income Fund (AIF) and Unicorn UK Income (GB00B00Z1S94), has died.

Mr McClure was also involved with running the Unicorn Free Spirit Fund (GB0031269250), Unicorn UK Smaller Companies (GB0031791238) and Unicorn Outstanding British Companies (GB00B1GFWW16) funds.

Co-managers Simon Moon and Fraser Mackersie will continue to run the trust's smaller companies portfolio, including Acorn Income and Unicorn UK Income. They had worked with Mr McClure on these funds since 2008. Unicorn UK Income is among the top-performing funds in its sector over one, three and five years, while Acorn Income has also posted very strong returns.

Unicorn Asset Management says that it has always followed a team-based approach to investment management and the rest of the team continues to be responsible for overseeing the management of all its funds.

"John was an intelligent investor, a committed and dedicated member of our team and a very good friend," said Colin Howell, Unicorn chairman. "We will all miss him dearly and our thoughts are with his family at this sad time."

Mr McClure had specialised in UK smaller companies for over 20 years and joined Unicorn Asset Management in July 2000. Before that he worked at Guinness Flight Global Asset Management, and between 1989 and 1992 at Hermes Asset Management. He started his career at United Friendly Assurance in 1987.
