Carillion makes public sector gains

Carillion has added further weight to its large pipeline of work
August 11, 2015

Two new public sector contracts helped shares in support services and construction group Carillion (CLLN) make ground. The group will be placed into a pool of suppliers from whom government departments and public bodies will purchase services, including hard and soft facilities management. The government expects between £1.3bn and £4.1bn of services to be outsourced under the agreement, which will run until July 2019.

The group's joint venture, The Hospital Company, has also been selected as preferred bidder by the Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust to build the 670-bed £297m Midland Metropolitan Hospital. Carillion will also provide hard facilities management and life-cycle maintenance services, which it expects to generate £140m in revenue over the next 30-year concession contract.
