Cyber attack hurts Dixons Carphone's shares

A data breach at Carphone Warehouse has dented shares in owner Dixons Carphone.

Shares in Carphone warehouse owner Dixons Carphone (DC.) fell after a cyber attack put the personal details of more than 2m customers at risk. The attack was first revealed over the weekend and the share price fell 2 per cent in early trading on Monday morning. The data breach first began sometime in the past two weeks, although it is thought Carphone Warehouse only discovered the extent of the damage on Wednesday 5 August.

Rival telecoms group TalkTalk (TALK) said some of its customers had been affected, and its shares dipped 1 per cent.
