Qinetiq (QQ.) has secured a £1bn contract amendment to a 25-year partnering agreement with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for test and evaluation services. The Farnborough-based defence technology group has been providing test and evaluation services to the MoD since 2004, and the revision of the contract has resulted in investments in a number of areas.

This will include the modernisation and continued operation of air ranges at MoD Aberporth in Wales and MoD Hebrides in Scotland, in addition to air crew training and testing at the Empire Test Pilots' School at Boscombe Down in Wiltshire. The MoD and Qinetiq are putting £180m towards the modernisation of these facilities and equipment to support the continuation of the contract.
