Product-testing specialist Intertek (ITRK) has acquired US-based group MT with the aim of gaining closer access to North America's high-growth construction markets. The company specialises in providing materials testing and inspection services to the building industry in the New York area.
MT generated around $9m in revenue in 2014 and employs over 100 people at its main Long Island site. The business will form part of Intertek's building and construction services line within the commercial and electrical division. Along with Intertek's planned acquisition of PSL, which provides testing and assurance services to the civil and commercial markets, management hopes the purchase will strengthen Intertek's position as a full-service provider across the project and building lifecycle.
