Clinigen's (CLIN) outgoing chief executive Peter George has sold down his stake in the company, cashing in a whopping £16.5m - quite a payout for the enigmatic boss who has led Clinigen since its inception in 2010.
In 2012, Clinigen joined Aim with a share price of 164p and at this time Mr George held 8.9m shares, having been allotted options at the IPO. Now, with the share price rising over 350 per cent in the meantime, Mr George has made a pretty decent return. The 2.2m shares he sold earlier this month at 750p would have only been worth £3.6m at the time of the float. Mr George will stay on at the company as a non-executive director and retains a 3 per cent stake.
Acquisitions made in 2015 broadened Clinigen's global reach and the group continues to reap the benefits from this expansion. Earlier this week, it was announced that Clinigen would expand its licensing agreement with BTG to sell more products in more countries.
