The fact that Enterprise Inns' (ETI) shares are down by around 7 per cent over the past 12 months obviously doesn't perturb chairman Robert Walker. Indeed, he views it as a buying opportunity.

The former Severn Trent (SVT) group chief executive purchased 160,000 shares at 123.5p each to bring his overall holding to 435,000, or 0.09 per cent of the shares in issue. The deal comes a few months after chief executive William Townsend and chief financial officer Neil Smith exercised options under a 2012 long-term incentive plan to buy more shares.
Even though the company admitted that a change to the Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Bill - which removed the obligation for tenants to buy stock from their landlord - would have a "significant impact" on its business, those running the show clearly believe that Enterprise can live with the rejigged legislation.
