Things just keep getting better for China-based pharmaceutical company Hutchison China MediTech (HCM). Having reported bumper sales at the time of full-year results in February 2015, members of the group's management team have gone on a spending spree, taking advantage of the rising share price. The stock is trading at a five-year high.

Chairman Simon To spent more than £800,000 to enlarge his stake in the company by way of 58,000 shares, while non-executive director Edith Shih spent a more modest £166,200 to increase her holding to 0.11 per cent.
For now, the group is ploughing resources into its extensive clinical programme, which has 16 trials currently running in parallel. Ten of these have been awarded 'breakthrough status' by the US Food and Drug Administration, so they can reach patients who need them more quickly, and won't be subject to the usual three-phase approach to drug development.
