David Morrison, a non-executive director at PayPoint (PAY), recently hived off 2.46m shares in the payment technology specialist in a deal worth £27.1m. The disposal leaves Mr Morrison with just 35,000 shares, all of which are held by his company, Prospect Investment Management. At 1,100p, the sale price was in line with PayPoint’s 200-day moving average, and came a week after the group revealed that annual transaction volumes were up 3.9 per cent to a record high.

The surge in transaction volumes was largely attributed to the CollectPlus parcels and returns business, which allows individuals to send, collect and return parcels through a designated network of retail outlets. Total volumes for CollectPlus rose 76 per cent in PayPoint’s latest accounting year, and the group intends to expand the current network of 5,500 outlets by a third over the coming 12 months - presenting another headache for Royal Mail (RMG).
