Journalist Biographies
Jonathan Eley
Jonathan Eley was appointed Editor of Investors Chronicle in June 2009 having joined the magazine as Online News Editor in 2000. Previously a sub-editor on UK corporate and economic news newswire AFX News in London he started his journalist career at Metal Bulletin (now part of Euromoney), and is co-author of a book on European equity culture.
Claer Barrett
Claer Barrett has been a property journalist for more than a decade, and became associate editor of the Investors Chronicle in 2009. The winner of eight journalism awards, she was previously managing editor of Property Week, and is a regular contributor to BBC Radio 4's You & Yours programme.
John Hughman
John Hughman, is Associate Editor at Investors Chronicle, and also covers a number of consumer-facing sectors, including retail, consumer goods, and so-called 'sin' stocks - tobacco, gambling and beverages. Previously, John was a technology analyst for many years, first at City stockbroker Evolution Beeson Gregory and latterly at Big Four accounting giant Ernst & Young.
Simon Thompson
Simon Thompson Investors Chronicle companies editor is a well-known investing commentator and author of the best selling book, "Trading Secrets: 20 hard and fast rules to beat the market." His weekly column in the magazine uses historical, economic and technical analysis to identify trading opportunities for investors in major stock, commodity and currency markets. Simon is also the creator of the Bargain Portfolio, which has beaten the UK stock market in nine out of the past ten years and generated an annual average gain of over 14 per cent.
Maike Currie
Maike Currie, acting personal finance editor, is part of Investors Chronicle's personal finance team, writing about how to make money, save money and other personal finance issues. She started her journalism career in South African on a national's business and finance desk. After moving to the UK, she worked as deputy features editor of Financial Adviser, a FT Group publication for the UK's independent financial advisers (IFAs), before joining the Investors Chronicle team.
Dominic Picarda
Dominic Picarda, Associate Editor, joined the Investors Chronicle in 2001, Dominic served for two years as Sectors Editor and then for the last three years as Associate Editor. In charge of both the IC's monthly Masterclass supplement and the weekly Trading section, Dominic holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Market Technician (CMT) qualifications. A regular speaker at IC and outside events, Dominic's trading tips appear in the weekend Financial Times.
Mark Robinson
Mark Robinson, Deputy Statistics Editor, joined Investors Chronicle 4 years ago having previously worked for Hemscott, the Australian Stock Exchange & Thomson Financial. As a writer, he specialises in soft commodities, and is best known for his Directors Dealings piece in the magazine every week.
