The UK's snowy weather may have kept people away from Rank's bingo halls, but didn't diminish the appetite of more regular gamblers for a spin on the roulette wheel at its casinos.

Grosvenor Casinos saw like-for-like sales climb 7 per cent, as more customers came through the doors and wagered higher amounts while there. And Mecca Bingo, in fact, held relatively steady, with like-for-like sales down just 1 per cent despite a 5 per cent drop in customers in the nine weeks to 5 December, with footfall nearly a third lower in the final week of the period. Rank said customers had spent 4 per cent more per visit as a result of an improved catering offer.
