The sharp decline reflects consumers' growing taste for fresh juices, smoothies and energy drinks. Over 19m gallons of fresh juice are consumed each month in the US, compared with 1.4m gallons of frozen concentrate. The American state of Florida is also expected to report its smallest harvest in more than half a century, as citrus greening has decimated its groves. Add the annual hurricane season to the mix, and there are clear challenges ahead. Fans of the film Trading Places may cheer though, as it's becoming easier and easier to corner the frozen orange juice market.
