Dr Gideon Chitayat has shown his belief in BATM (BVC) once again. The chairman of the managed IT services and medical systems group recently splurged £155,000 to raise his stake by half to 3m shares, or about 0.74 per cent of the company.
The purchase follows a period of mixed trading for BATM. Sales dipped in both the bio-medical and networking and cyber divisions in the first half of 2016, widening the group's adjusted operating loss to $0.6m (£0.5m). However, sales of its diagnostic machines accelerated and management added more than 35 networking and cyber customers. And it recently inked a contract, worth up to $2.3m over three years, with a provider of high-speed computing and network services to education and research institutions in Australia.
Broker FinnCap expects adjusted pre-tax profits of $0.8m in 2016, giving EPS of 0.4¢, compared with a $0.3m pre-tax loss and nil EPS in 2015.
