Polar Capital has launched a value-focused fund which will be managed by highly-regarded former Miton managers Georgina Hamilton and George Godber.
Polar Capital UK Value Opportunities (IE00BD81XW84) launched on 31 January 2017 and is being initially managed by Ms Hamilton alone, before Mr Godber starts at the firm in April. Like their former top-performing fund, CF Miton UK Value Opportunities (GB00B8QW1M42), Polar Capital UK Value Opportunities will invest in around 65 UK companies whose value is under-appreciated by the wider market.
The fund has annual management charges of 0.75 per cent and 0.60 per cent for the I and S share classes respectively, and a performance fee of 10 per cent.
Between the launch of CF Miton UK Value on 25 March 2013 and 7 April 2017, when the news emerged of Ms Hamilton's and Mr Godber's departure, the £869m fund had returned 64 per cent against 17.4 per cent for the Investment Association (IA) UK All Companies sector.
Former EdenTree manager Andrew Jackson has managed CF Miton UK Value since May 2016. Between 1 July 2016 and 3 February he has returned 19.2 per cent, against 13.4 per cent for the IA UK All Companies sector.
