Paddy Power Betfair is caught in the weeds

“When you lose your money, learn to lose,” sang folk singer Dave Van Ronk, in his version of the folk standard Stackerlee. Well, shareholders of FTSE 100 gambler Paddy Power Betfair (PPB) are on a bad streak. News of the departure of a well respected chief executive, and some slightly disappointing cash profit guidance for the full year alongside this week’s interims (see page 62), sent the shares down 8 per cent in two days.
