UK vaccination ambition grows
The UK government announced that more than 500,000 coronavirus vaccines were administered on Saturday, with the vaccines minister Nadhim Zahawi over the weekend promising a ramp up in numbers over the next three weeks towards a goal of up to 5m doses a week by the end of the month. This comes as several countries in Europe, the latest being Ireland and the Netherlands, have suspended use of the AstraZeneca vaccine after Norwegian health authorities raised concerns over blood clotting in four people who had received the jab. This comes despite the World Health Authority stressing that the vaccine is safe and countries should continue to use it.
