There are flaws, though, in this line of reasoning. One is that we only hear about the successful hires – and especially those that come at a price. We rarely hear about those who would have been hired, but where the cost of buying out their outstanding share awards proved to be too high. The information that’s made public, in other words, is self-selected. It gives a false impression.
