Metro Bank raises £300m after capital decline

Lending continued to rise, jumping by more than half during the first half

Are Metro Bank’s (MTRO) eyes bigger than its stomach? The challenger bank has raised £300m via a share placing with institutional investors, representing around 10 per cent of previously issued share capital, at par with the prior day’s closing price. The placing came just three months after chief executive Craig Donaldson told analysts that the group had no plans to raise any more equity until next year.
