Dealing activity by insiders remains subdued, reflecting the close periods ahead of the main half-year reporting season. Fenner (FENR) doesn’t report its full-year figures until November, so two non-executive directors, Michael Ducey and Chris Surch, have been building their positions in the Yorkshire-based engineer.
Michael Ducey was only appointed to the board in January, but has already amassed 86,450 shares in the group. His latest outlay amounted to £194,503, a clear vote of confidence, but perhaps unsurprising given this month’s trading update that revealed operating profit “comfortably ahead of previous expectations”.
Fenner manufactures industrial belts, seals and other specialist components, including conveyor systems for mines and grain silos, but the group has singled out the strengthening revenue from the medical businesses within its advanced engineered products division as particularly encouraging. The group is also seeing a step-up in orders linked to the oil and gas industry, as capital budgets start to recover.
