Somero Enterprises’ (SOM) chief executive John "Jack" Cooney has sold 800,000 shares – more than half of his stake in the company – for a total of £2.7m, by way of a secondary placing. The group, which provides high-tech concrete-levelling equipment, noted that the "US tax legislation obliges Mr Cooney to make withdrawals from his current pension plans during 2019, the assets of which consist solely of Somero shares".

Subsequent to this disposal, Mr Cooney has agreed not to reduce his position further for at least two years. Somewhat reassuringly, the shares in question were bought up by institutional investors.
The results for last year were broadly positive. Revenues of $94m (£72m) "comfortably" exceeded the five-year target outlined in 2014 of achieving $90m by 2018. The group also improved its geographical diversity, with sales from outside North America constituting 31 per cent of the total.
