WH Smith’s (SMWH) travel business has continued to grow in the year to August. The group’s latest trading update, released a few days before the period end, said the division was trading well, with the gross margin in line with management plans and store openings continuing in the UK and internationally.

Management did not elaborate on where the growth was coming from. At the time of the group’s most recent half-year results, it was on track to open around 20 new units in the UK for the year. The international business has added three units since April.
