Burberry appoints Riccardo Tisci

The luxury fashion house has appointed a new creative chief

Burberry’s (BRBY) new creative boss has been revealed as Riccardo Tisci. What links Mr Tisci – previously the head designer at Parisian couture house and LVMH-owned brand Givenchy – with the London trench coat maker is its chief executive Marco Gobbetti. Mr Gobbetti previously served as chief executive at Givenchy, and appointed the then unknown 30-year old Tisci to oversee the creative vision in 2005.

It proved to be a genius move. Tisci’s 12-year stint at Givenchy was “electrifying” according to fashion bible WWD, and the New York Times praised him for “redefining the brand Audrey Hepburn built, for the Kardashian era”. Mr Tisci is arguably a social media celebrity in his own right too: he has 2.2m followers on Instagram.
