IC Weekender: Megatrends, Carillion, Simon Thompson & more

Our week ended with a cover feature from Daniel Liberto examining the global megatrends which can be so valuable for investors to plug into and the best ways to do so. Our second feature was former City fund manager John Rosier’s latest Private Investor Diary update.

The week was dominated by the collapse of Carillion and its effect on the wider markets. Tom Dines analysed the news while he also discussed it further with editor John Hughman in this week’s Companies & Markets podcast. Meanwhile our Personal Finance team looked at how infrastructure investment trusts have reacted.

Our top stock picker Simon Thompson wrote on a total of seven companies in his column this week, while he also chipped in to the Companies & Markets podcast discussing some of his latest picks.

Elsewhere this week Algy Hall’s Stock Screen this week revisited his market beating Great Expectations criteria while Mr Bearbull continued his search for candidates for his Income Portfolio.

Other highlights from our Companies team saw analysis of trading updates from the likes of JD Sports and Marks & Spencer. Visit the Shares pages for our latest updates.
