Just a few days after clothing chain Joules (JOUL) published an upgrade-worthy set of half-year figures, both chief executive Colin Porter and non-executive chairman Neil McCausland sold down a portion of their holdings in the company for "personal reasons". Mr McCausland’s wife, Janet Lovekin, also sold 20,000 shares to bank close to £66,000. Following the disposals, Mr Porter remains in control of 1.7 per cent of the group, while Mr McCausland and persons associated with him own around 0.5 per cent in total.
Joules was one of a small cluster of retailers to report solid trading over Christmas, with total sales rising by nearly a fifth over the festive period. Half-year figures closed around the Black Friday promotional weekend, and together with the Christmas update provided scant evidence of sales slowing through the final part of last year into January.
