ABF saved by Primark

Higher volumes of sugar being sold into the market after the EU lifted its quotas on production has pushed down prices
February 28, 2018

The good news is that Associated British Foods (ABF) expects to deliver sales growth across almost all its divisions during the first half of the year. The bad news is that this will exclude the sugar business. The EU lifted its quotas on sugar production towards the end of last year, and so a higher volume of sugar hitting the market has pushed down prices. That's expected to result in flat underlying operating profits for AB Sugar during the six months to March.
