Just a matter of days after homewares retailer Dunelm (DNLM) announced a disappointing set of half-year results, company bosses have bought more shares in a bid to shore up investor confidence. Chairman Andy Harrison and non-executive director William Reeve both added to their stakes, with the former spending close to a quarter of a million pounds to take his shareholding to 0.16 per cent.

The company is struggling to absorb losses from its latest acquisition. Cash profits fell by 2 per cent to £79m over the first half as the group took on Worldstores’ trading losses, although the deal did contribute to a significant rise in online sales. But these losses are proving to be more of a headache than originally thought. As such, analysts at Peel Hunt have already nudged down profit forecasts for the current year and beyond.
