A degree of pessimism was already baked into DFS Furniture's (DFS) share price ahead of its half-year numbers. Troubled market conditions last year flattened the sofa retailer’s full-year revenues, while declining profits and investment requirements prompted us to question the future of the group’s dividend. Then, a February trading update revealed that sales for the first six months of this financial year were down 3.5 per cent to £367m, excluding the contribution of Sofology – bought for £25m in November 2017.
