Bearbull on social trading, Taking Stock of defence spending, Dillow on housing worries & more

Mr Bearbull’s weekly column takes a closer look at the growing trend for some investors to partake in ‘social’ trading and asks whether this model is flawed or has potential.

In his Taking Stock column this week companies editor Mark Robinson examines the latest jockeying for position among government departments over spending commitments and in particular the concerns over the defence budget, which could have ramifications for plenty of UK investors.

Meanwhile, Chris Dillow’s latest economic analysis column looks at the relationship between the rental yield on housing and yields on shares and points out that when housing yields are historically low compared with shares, as they are now, it is typically a bad sign for house prices.
