The 12 months to March 2018 marked Kainos’s (KNOS) eighth consecutive year of revenue and adjusted pre-tax profit growth, with the former rising 16 per cent to £96.7m and the latter 7 per cent to £15.3m. The IT group also continued to diversify its top line, while its contracted revenue backlog soared 45 per cent to £111m, bringing with it good visibility over future sales.

Against this backdrop, we’re not hugely concerned that business development director Paul Gannon sold 400,000 shares on 2 July for £4.05 each, earning £1.6m. This has left Mr Gannon, and his connected person, holding 8.4m shares – equating to a 7.1 per cent stake in the company.
Inspiring some additional confidence, we learnt on 4 July that members of the management team – including Mr Gannon – have been awarded new performance share plans, set to vest over a three-year period. These awards are subject to certain performance requirements.
