Alongside Clipper Logistics (CLG) full-year results, released in July, chairman Steve Parkin warned that an "element of caution" would be introduced to the group’s planning process, due to "wider forces" affecting the UK retail sector. Despite a strong pipeline of new business and recent contract wins, the less-than-optimistic tone sent the shares tumbling.
In this context, it seems chief executive Antony Mannix and chief financial officer David Hodkin are holding true to the idea of 'buy-the-dip'. Mr Mannix purchased 80,000 shares while Mr Hodkin scooped up 240,000, both at just over 318p each. These transactions of £255,000 and £764,190 respectively, were conducted through family investment companies – the usual method since Clipper went public. A spokesperson for the company said the purchases reflect managements’ "ongoing confidence" in the business. Mr Mannix now owns 0.93 per cent of Clipper’s outstanding shares, while Mr Hodkin owns 1.1 per cent.
