Dignity slashes prices as CMA investigation looms

The funeral services sector has been increasingly competitive in recent years, leading Dignity's (DTY) management to slash prices and introduce lower-cost offerings. As a result, earnings plummeted in 2018, with underlying pre-tax profit ending the year down 30 per cent to £54.4m. It is testament to how difficult the market is that profits were still ahead of expectations. On top of all this, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is expected to launch a wide-ranging investigation into the industry.
