Richard McCann, chief financial officer and chief operating officer at Kainos (KNOS), has offloaded 1.5m shares in the group at 580p each – totalling £8.7m. The large disposal, which took place on 29 November, saw Mr McCann sell just under a quarter of his holding – leaving him with around 4.7m shares, or a 3.9 per cent stake. We understand that the transaction was done for personal financial planning purposes.
Kainos – which has two core divisions, digital services and digital platforms – delivered its half-year results to September last month, with revenues up by 29 per cent to £86.9m, and international revenues up by 86 per cent to £17.9m. Pre-tax profits increased by 38 per cent to £12m.
Headcount climbed by almost a fifth to 1,562 – with the proportion of permanent employees increasing relative to contractors. Good news, one might venture, although this shift – and the impact of bonus payment timings – meant that cash conversion (cash generated by operations over earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation) fell to 60 per cent, from 93 per cent a year earlier.
