Frontier bags Jurassic World tie in

The game developer will release a tie in to the dinosaur theme park franchise alongside the latest instalment next year

There was more good news for investors in Frontier Developments (FDEV) this morning after the group revealed it would be developing a video game based on the extremely successful film franchise Jurassic World. The game, entitled “Jurassic World Evolution”, will be released next Summer. A month has not been specified, but the second instalment of the film series will be released in June.

The share price rose 16 per cent in early trading following the announcement. Analysts at Finncap increased the target price to 968p from 690p, highlighting the prominence of the franchise (Jurassic Park was the highest grossing film of all time when it was released in 1993, Jurassic World was fourth highest in 2017) and the success of previous film-to-game adaptations, with 19 of the top 20 film franchises selling an average of 15.4m units of their game adaptations.
