Pharmaceutical services group UDG Healthcare (UDG) continues to bulk up its portfolio through acquisition. This time around it has bought US communications business MicroMass for an initial consideration of $64m (£47m) – with another $12m up for grabs if the business reaches certain targets. The deal takes the total acquisition expenditure up to $275m in this financial year.
Communications is a growing division of the global healthcare market due to its rising complexity (particularly the US) and the increase in patient input into pharmaceutical decision-making. MicroMass generates the majority of its revenue from healthcare support programmes and patient engagement and is expected to complement UDG’s existing communications division, Ashfield.
