Raining on Amerisur's parade

Water issues are holding back production in the Putumayo basin
June 13, 2018

Water ingress is one of the standard technical issues faced by resource companies, and in the tropics the problems can extend to the surrounding infrastructure. It’s a point not lost on shareholders of Amerisur Resources (AMER), as extensive flooding continued to affect operations at its Pintadillo-1 well. The driller confirmed that work was going ahead at the Putumayo basin in Colombia even though weather conditions had necessitated the installation of additional drainage in civil works for the road to the Pintadillo-1 well.

Amerisur revealed that May production from its two producing fields in Colombia – Platanillo and Mariposa-1 – came in at 149,030 barrels of oil, with an average daily rate of 4,807 barrels. A reduction of total fluid volume and a small increase in the ratio of water have been observed in Platanillo-21 and 24, which are under review for intervention.
